THE GO-GO EXPERIENCE |
|
| This
seasons main attraction of the New York art scene will be the 1960s
"Go-Go style" party hosted by artist Julie Harvey. Ms. Harvey is well known for
her controversial art, public works, and performance-costume extravaganzas which to this
day remain the talk of the town. Her latest event leaps beyond anything art aficionados
have ever dreamed, and will be remembered for years to come. This party was created as a parody on the art world and was inspired by Larry Gagosians nickname, "Gogo." It will feature seven of Ms. Harveys most recent unauthorized nude portraits of well known art stars showcased within the living theater of the Go-Go party. Actors and dancers will be hired to play exaggerated Austin Powers-like groovy hipsters who will schmooze and flirt with the crowd. Guests will approach the party below a huge sky-tracker beam of light and be greeted at the door by actors in 1960s costume asking, "Hey baby, whats your name?" Inside the music will be swinging as actors mix 007 cocktails, either shaken or stirred. Other actors and dancers will be mingling throughout the crowd in "British-mod" style while offering, "Wanna buy a groovy painting, or should we shag for a while first?" Occasionally these actors will break into a synchronized dance number swinging to the beat. They may even engage in dancing with a guest. Within this spectacular setting, guests will line up to view Ms. Harveys latest nude paintings of well known art dealers and artists. Ms. Harvey has chosen the worlds top publicity addicts to characterize in these humorous works (Larry Gagosian, Tony Shafrazi, Charles Saatchi, Mark Kostabi, Julian Schnabel, Damien Hirst and yes, Mary Boone). The paintings amusingly depict these art stars dancing in front of Go-Go style 60s backgrounds ..their features exaggerated or, in some cases, understated. This party is a parody on the art world, sensationalizing the sensational. The dealer, artist, and event will be elevated to superstar status. Its a promotion of unparalleled proportions and all involved will benefit. This 4 hour party event will be over the top, silly, fun and fantasized. The art world has never encountered an event such as this before and it will be talked about for years to come. Its guaranteed to be the most smashing party of your life! |
